Synthesis of 3-hydroxyindolin-2-one alkaloids, (±)-donaxaridine and (±)-convolutamydines A and E, through enolization-Claisen rearrangement of 2-allyloxyindolin-3-ones

Claisen rearrangement triggered by enolization of 2-allyloxyindolin-3-ones with DBU was performed in order to prepare 3-allyl-3-hydroxyindolin-2-ones. Total synthesis of 3-hydroxyindolin-2-one alkaloids, (±)-donaxaridine, as well as (±)-convolutamydines A and E, was achieved by transformation of the allyl moiety of 3-allyl-3-hydroxyindolin-2-ones.

提出了一种利用简并Ⅴ型三能级原子与相干态光场(大失谐条件下)Raman相互作用实现类自旋的腔场Greenberger-Home-Zeilinger(即GHZ)态的新方案。     

Reactivity of a Ti–45.9Al–8Nb alloy in air at 700–900°C

A Ti–45.9Al–8Nb (at%) alloy with a lamellar structure (γ+α₂) was oxidised in air at 700, 800, 850 and 900°C in isothermal and thermal cycling conditions. The reaction progress was followed by thermogravimetric measurements. In isothermal conditions the oxidation kinetics followed approximately a parabolic rate law and the rate constants ranged from about 10^–12 kg² m^–4 s^–1 at 700°C to 10^–10 kg² m^–4 s^–1 at 900°C. The oxide scales were built of Al₂O₃ and TiO₂, the former being the main component of the outermost layer. The oxidation behaviour of Ti–45.9Al–8Nb was referred to a commercial titanium alloy, WT4 (Ti–6Al–1Mn), and selected oxidation-resistant alloys.     

Synthesis and characterization of liquid crystalline side‐chain block copolymers containing luminescent 4,4′‐bis(biphenyl)fluorene pendants

A series of new liquid crystalline homopolymers, copolymers, and block copolymers were polymerized from styrene‐macroinitiator ( SMi ) and methacrylates with pendent 4,4′‐bis(biphenyl)fluorene ( M1 ) and biphenyl‐4‐ylfluorene ( M2 ) groups through atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). The number‐average molecular weights (Mn) of polymers P1 ‐ P4 were 10,007, 14,852, 6,275, and 10,463 g mol^?1 with polydispersity indices values of 1.21, 1.15, 1.31, and 1.22, respectively. All polymers exhibit the nematic phase. The thermal, mesogenic, and photoluminescent properties of all polymers were investigated. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Aharonov–Bohm oscillations observed in nanoscale open-dot structures fabricated in an InAs surface inversion layer

We fabricated nanoscale open-dot structures in an InAs surface inversion layer using an atomic-force-microscope oxidation process. Due to its superior nanofabrication capability, small open-dot structures with the feature size ranging between 100 and 300 nm were successfully fabricated. The magnetoresistance signal measured at 4.2 K showed reproducible fluctuations and a periodic oscillation component that varies in both amplitude and periodicity depending on the dot size. We show that the period of the oscillations corresponds to that of the Aharonov–Bohm effect and propose that the possible mechanism for the oscillations is due to the formation of a one-dimensional electron channel enclosing the open-dot structure as a result of the electron transfer from the InAs oxide to InAs.

New 6-Arylsulfonyl-1,2-benzoisothiazol-3(2H)-one 1,1-Dioxides Derived from Diphenyl Sulfone Monosulfonyl Chlorides

Various methods were studied for the oxidation of 2-methyl-5-(phenylsulfonyl)benzenesulfamide and its derivatives. The oxidation by sodium dichromate in sulfuric acid was found most efficient. The effects of temperature, concentration, reagent ratio, and time of the oxidation reaction on the yield of the desired product were investigated. Conditions were proposed for obtaining the desired product in yields up to 95%. A synthesis was developed for a series of new saccharin derivatives.     

Synthesis of side‐chain liquid‐crystalline homopolymers and triblock copolymers with p‐methoxyazobenzene moieties and poly(ethylene glycol) as coil segments by atom transfer radical polymerization and their thermotropic phase behavior

A series of side‐chain liquid‐crystalline (LC) homopolymers of poly[6‐(4‐methoxy‐4′‐oxy‐azobenzene) hexyl methacrylate] with different degrees of polymerization were synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP), which were prepared with a wide range of number‐average molecular weights from 5.1 × 10³ to 20.6 × 10³ with narrow polydispersities of around 1.17. Thermal investigation showed that the homopolymers exhibit two mesophases, a smectic phase, and a nematic phase, and the phase‐transition temperatures of the homopolymers increase clearly with increasing molecular weights. A series of novel LC coil triblock copolymers with narrow polydispersities was synthesized by ATRP, and their thermotropic phase behavior was investigated with differential scanning calorimetry and polarized optical microscopy. The LC coil triblocks were designed to have an LC conformation of poly[6‐(4‐methoxy‐4′‐oxy‐azobenzene) hexyl methacrylate] with a wide range of molecular weights from 3.5 × 10³ to 1.7 × 10⁴ and the coil conformation of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) (number‐average molecular weight: 6000 or 12,000) segment. Their characterization was investigated with ¹H NMR, Fourier transform infrared spectra, and gel permeation chromatography. Triblock copolymers exhibited a crystalline phase, a smectic phase, and a nematic phase. The phase‐transition temperatures from the smectic to nematic phase and from the nematic to isotropic phase increased, and the crystallization of PEG depressed with increasing molecular weight of the LC block. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A new cytotoxic limonoid from Odontadenia macrantha from the Suriname rainforest

Bioassay‐guided fractionation of the methanol extract of Odontadenia macrantha afforded a new limonoid, odontadenin A (1) and two known triterpenoids, lupeol (2) and α‐amyrin (3). The structure of 1 was established on the basis of 1D and 2D NMR and high‐resolution fast atom bombardment mass spectrometric data. The new compound was found to possess moderate cytotoxicity against A2780, the ovarian cancer cell line. Copyright © 2003 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.     

Endpoint estimates for certain commutators of fractional and singular integrals

In this paper, the authors obtain the endpoint estimates for a class of non-standard commutators with higher order remainders and their variants. Moreover, the authors show that these operators are actually not bounded in certain cases.
